We officially began homeschooling when our oldest turned six in 2020, but our children have been learning in our house from day 1! We enjoy the freedom of time, choices, and pace. “Learning through living” has become one of our mantras, and we learn from everyone! Drop in on us during the week, and you’ll usually find us with family or friends, reading, playing outside, or heading out on an “adventure” to a park, gym or museum.
As a PA certified K-12 music educator, I am qualified to be a homeschool evaluator. I am grateful that parents can choose the homeschooling style that works best for them and their children, and I honor that choice in our very informal, laid back evaluations. I currently evaluate K-5 students. I will be eligible to evaluate 6-12 in 2027.
It is great to watch our homeschooling families grow and see the children as they learn and develop each year. Evaluations should not be intimidating! It is a chance for me to see progress in various subjects (can often be through worksheets, pictures, or explanations), a book list, and an attendance sheet. Every family will look different, which is a wonderful thing to celebrate!
Evaluations are $25, with discounts for multiple siblings. We can meet in person (in Cumberland County) or virtually (Zoom, Skype, etc). These are typically scheduled in May and June, but can be done anytime after you’ve completed your requirements (180 days).
I am also available throughout the year to help you navigate the world of homeschooling with your district and PA law.
Please contact me for questions or to schedule an evaluation.
